1000 founders building private AI infrastructure.
PrivateAI 1000 is a proposed member-funded AI cooperative. 1000 founding members contribute $200 each to fund shared private AI infrastructure and receive 2 years of platform access.
Current status: Idea validation only. No payment is open. No hardware has been purchased. Join the waitlist to follow the plan and help shape the project.

Platform access
The math
Simple. Transparent. Cooperative.
The funding model is straightforward. 1000 founders, $200 each.
GPU Infrastructure
The majority of the fund targets H100-class GPU hardware for cooperative AI workloads.
Server Hardware
Chassis, CPU, RAM, power supply, and networking for reliable bare-metal operation.
Storage & Backups
Fast NVMe storage, redundant backups, and disaster recovery for member data.
Operating Reserve
Remaining funds are held in reserve for hosting, security, legal, and development.
Founder membership
What founding members get
Each founding member receives 2 years of access to the cooperative AI platform after launch. Access is subject to fair-use limits.
Private AI Chat
Conversational AI powered by strong open-weight models on cooperative infrastructure.
Coding Assistant
Code completion, review, debugging, and explanation across popular languages.
Document Analysis
Upload and analyze documents, extract insights, and query your files with AI.
Research Assistant
Deep research support with RAG-powered knowledge retrieval from your own data.
Productivity Tools
Summarization, rewriting, translation, task automation, and workflow tools.
Member Dashboard
Track your usage, fair-use quota, session history, and uploaded documents.
Roadmap Voting
Founding members vote on feature priorities and cooperative decisions.
Budget Reports
Transparent monthly budget breakdowns published to all members.
Discounted Renewal
After the 2-year founder period, members get a discounted renewal rate.
Fair-use notice: Access is subject to fair-use limits designed to protect cooperative capacity. Heavy or automated usage may require optional upgrade plans. This is not unlimited AI usage.
Technical approach
What we are building
PrivateAI 1000 aims to build a practical cooperative AI platform using proven, production-ready technology. We are not claiming to train a frontier model from zero. The plan is grounded in what is achievable with a $200,000 cooperative fund.
- Open-weight models (Llama, Mistral, Qwen, and similar)
- Fine-tuning on domain-specific data where useful
- RAG for documents and knowledge base retrieval
- Tool use, agents, and multi-step workflows
- API fallback to commercial providers when needed
- Dedicated GPU infrastructure as the cooperative grows
Target infrastructure
4× H100 or better
The target is 4× H100 or better GPU infrastructure. If final funding, pricing, and availability allow, the cooperative may upgrade to H200-class hardware or expand capacity.
Budget transparency
Estimated budget breakdown
The exact budget will be published before accepting full founder payments. These are planning estimates, not final purchase commitments.
| Budget item | Low estimate | High estimate |
|---|---|---|
| GPU hardware (4× H100 or better) | $120,000 | $150,000 |
| Server chassis, CPU, RAM, power | $15,000 | $30,000 |
| Storage and backups | $5,000 | $10,000 |
| Networking and security | $3,000 | $8,000 |
| Hosting / colocation setup | $5,000 | $15,000 |
| Legal / accounting / company setup | $3,000 | $10,000 |
| Software development | $5,000 | $20,000 |
| Operating reserve | Remaining | Remaining |
| Total cooperative fund | $200,000 | |
Important: Budget ranges are planning estimates, not final purchase commitments. The high-end estimates across all categories exceed $200,000 — they represent the worst-case scenario for each line item individually. The final hardware and operating plan will be published before accepting full founder payments. If prices exceed the target budget, the project will choose a phased or member-approved fallback plan.
All estimates are subject to final market pricing, availability, and cooperative decisions.
Contingency planning
What if $200,000 is not enough?
The cooperative will not blindly spend funds if final costs are higher than planned. If GPU prices, hosting costs, or legal fees exceed the $200,000 target, the cooperative may choose one or more fallback options:
Phased launch
Launch with API fallback first, purchase hardware when pricing allows.
Lease or rent GPUs first
Rent cloud GPU capacity temporarily while building toward owned hardware.
Buy fewer GPUs initially
Start with 2× H100 and expand capacity through a later vote.
Delay hardware purchase
Wait for better pricing rather than buying at peak cost.
Optional expansion funding
Open a voluntary second round with full member approval.
Member-approved fallback vote
No major change to the plan without publishing the updated budget and a member vote.
The project should not spend funds blindly without publishing the updated plan and getting community agreement first.

Fair use
Founder membership is not unlimited.
Fair-use limits protect the cooperative so one small group of heavy users cannot consume the entire shared infrastructure.
Monthly AI usage allowance
Each member receives a monthly token and request quota based on cooperative capacity.
Daily abuse protection
Daily rate limits prevent any single account from saturating the shared GPU pool.
File upload limits
Maximum file size and monthly upload quota for document analysis features.
Maximum context limits
Context window limits per session to ensure fair sharing of compute resources.
Queue protection for all members
Request queuing ensures every member gets responsive service, not just fast users.
Optional paid upgrades
Members who need higher limits may optionally purchase additional capacity at cost.
Honesty
Our commitments and the real risks
We believe serious projects require serious honesty. Here are our commitments and the genuine risks you should know.
Our commitments
- Transparent budget published before payment
- Public roadmap with phase milestones
- Clear refund policy before reservations open
- Regular community updates on Telegram and Discord
- Member voting on roadmap and features
- No equity confusion — this is access, not ownership
- No fake "unlimited" claims — honest fair-use policy
Known risks
- GPU prices may change between planning and purchase
- Hardware availability may be constrained
- Hosting and power costs may exceed initial estimates
- Model performance depends on selected open-weight models
- Usage limits are required to protect all members
- Launch timeline may change depending on funding pace
- Legal and payment rules may vary by country
Community first
Join the community before paying.
No payment is open. No payment is required. The right first step is to join the community, ask questions, review the plan, and give feedback.
Why join now?
Why join the waitlist now?
Joining the waitlist does not require payment. The waitlist helps measure whether enough people want this cooperative before any reservation opens. If the community reaches strong interest, we will publish the full budget, demo, refund policy, technical plan, and fair-use limits before asking anyone to pay. Your feedback now helps shape the project.
